Access to Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi Hills can be accessed in one of three ways or a combination of these.  Please read through the options below and utlise the interactive map at the bottom to help orientate you with our location in relation to the towns and places mentioned:

1. By Air

Bumi Hills partners with various aviation companies in Zimbabwe who utilise safe and comfortable 5-12 seat aircraft to bring you into our air strip in just over an hour from Harare or Victoria Falls.  These flights into Bumi Hills tie in with international flights from Johannesburg in South Africa.  

2. By Boat

You can access Bumi Hills either by transfer boat or in your own boat from Kariba town. The journey lasts approximately 2-3 hours and is highly dependent on the condition of the lake, which is governed by the weather.  Please note that the ride can be bumpy and at times uncomfortable when the lake waters are not flat.

3. By Road

This is for the adventurous 4x4 offroad drivers only.  The last 60km of dirt road into Bumi Hills from Siakobvu is very poor and you will not be able to drive this in an ordinary two wheel drive vehicle.  

Combinations

It is possible to drive from Harare to Kariba town in an ordinary two wheel drive vehicle.  This a main road and it is well tarred the whole way.  Kariba Town is approximately 60km from Bumi Hills and you can cover this distance either in a plane (15minutes) or by boat (2-3 hours).
